Custodian

Description

Under general supervision, the Custodian provides a clean, safe, inviting environment for citizens and visitors the city's buildings and facilities. This position may require working afternoons, evenings and weekends. The schedule for this position is Friday - Wednesday, 1:00 pm - 10:00 pm.

Posted pay range is the starting salary. Pay rate offered is based on experience.

Examples of Duties

• Performs routine cleaning to include emptying waste containers, cleaning restroom facilities, mopping floors, stripping and waxing floors, vacuuming and extracting carpets, dusting and washing windows. Performs routine janitorial checks on all city buildings.
• Performs facility maintenance and multitude of semi-skilled tasks using brooms, mops, and chemical cleaners. Performs routine janitorial checks on adjacent building. Handles and cleans biohazards.
• Restocks custodial closets and restrooms regularly.
• Performs minor carpentry work, maintenance and repairs. Reports all maintenance issues to supervisor. Performs all building set-ups.

Experience and Training

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Six (6) months of custodial experience.

Certificates and Licenses Required

• Current Texas Class C driver license or the ability to obtain prior to employment.
