About Upwell Wine & Coffee

Upwell is a coffee shop by day and wine bar by night in West Seattle near the Alaska Junction. Our aim is to be the neighborhood joint w you can get something delicious all day to dine in or take home. We maintain Herkimer as our primary coffee supplier, and then feature a multi-roaster program to keep things interesting for regular guests and ourselves. We're also wine people, so we take our coffee seriously and have invested in the right equipment and training to ensure we are consistently serving some of the best coffee in the city. All pastries & snacks are made in house by Co-owner Chef Rosanne Zhu and her team. We're open 7 days/week from 8-3.

Job Description

We are in search of hospitality-focused coffee professionals or aspiring coffee professionals that can't live without coffee and want to continue to improve their craft. Prior experience a plus. What we need are colleagues who want to take care of guests, to be that friendly face when they're having a tough morning, or don't mind making someone's very specific drink order. The ideal candidate is punctual, works in a clean &anized manner, keeps the shop tidy, and has a desire to contribute to the creative side of the menu for drink specials. Additional opportunities to learn about wine if one wishes. T are lots of parallels between the two beverages!

Job Responsibilities

Opening shifts unlock the shop, ensures space is clean & ready for guests, and sets up all required mise en place is ready for service

Closing shifts clean all machinery & workspaces, submits request to kitchen for specialty syrups etc., takes coffee inventory and places order if necessary.

Keeps retail shelves stocked

Washes glassware

Keeps tables clean during service

Regularly checks bathroom for tidiness

Makes efforts to connect with themunity that visits the shop

Job Requirements

Hospitality forward attitude

Possesses HUSTLE for busy times of service

Prior barista experience a plus

Willingness to execute consistently delicious coffee

Able to lift 30 pounds

Comfortable working on their feet for several hours

Interest in creating drink specials for peer review and potential menu feature

Must have current food handlers card

Must have current MAST permit
