General Maintenance Worker

CONTRACT PERIOD: 12 months

REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities

PAY RANGE: TBD

POSITION SUMMARY: The General Maintenance Worker will be responsible for all general maintenance as described in this job description under the direction of the Director of Operations in accordance with Board of Education policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform preventative and repair maintenance as well as minor construction for all District facilities and capital assets including buildings, grounds and equipment in order to provide a safe and healthy environment conducive to learning for all students, staff, and public.

Job Responsibilities

Depending on individual candidate qualifications, job responsibilities will vary among the following assignments:

  • Electrical troubleshooting and repairs
  • Plumbing troubleshooting and repairs
  • Rough and finish carpentry
  • Yard and grounds maintenance including ball field preparation
  • Playground equipment installation, maintenance and repairs.
  • Kitchen and food service equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Heating and cooling system maintenance and repairs.
  • Welding and brazing repairs.
  • Locksmith and door hardware maintenance and repairs.
  • Pickup and delivery of supplies, equipment and furniture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities or other District Administrators.

Qualifications

Certified or skilled in one of the following construction trades including electrical, carpentry, and plumbing. A working knowledge in the others along with welding, painting and mechanical is also preferred. Ability to operate and maintain heavy equipment, grounds maintenance equipment and yard tools. Ability to set/erect, climb and work from all sizes of ladders and scaffolding. Ability to frequently lift or move 25 pounds force and occasionally lift or move up to one hundred pounds force. Must be able to work in all manner of physical positions including but not limited to standing, squatting, sitting, overhead work, kneeling, bending and twisting.
