Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) is currently hiring for the position of Kitchen Steward. The Kitchen Steward may be assigned a morning/early afternoon shift at Main Campus supporting lunch period preparation and service at Main Campus and/or a late afternoon/evening shift at North Campus supporting dinner preparation, service and cleanup. Overall responsibilities might include the preparing/serving of hot meals and salads, preparing ready-to-eat foods, re-stocking the beverage fridge and POS market items, washing dishes, and cleaning/closing down the kitchen. This position reports to the Executive Chef and follows the lead of the Cook on duty as a Dining Services support role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Read and follow recipes, pull and prepare food for following days, receive and rotate inventory, and serve food to students, staff, faculty, and guests
Replenish and re-stock beverage refrigerator, ice-cream freezer, and other POS market displays
Follow the direction of the Executive Chef and First Cook, as well as the leadership team to ensure that healthy food is served in a prompt and cost effective manner
Arrive for shifts clean, presentable, and in a work appropriate uniform
Perform end of day cleaning of the kitchen and dining room, as well as maintaining a clean work environment during the shift
Use the point of sale system to appropriately charge those receiving food
Additional tasks as assigned

Ability to stand for long periods of time, reach, bend, push and/or pull, and lift up to 35 pounds
Strong work ethic and time management with demonstrated professionalism
2 years experience in food service required
Servsafe training is preferred
DIRECT REPORTS
This role reports to the Executive Chef. There are no direct reports for this position.
SCHEDULE & WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a part-time or full-time position on the Academic work cycle. Hours may be flexible depending on the needs of the Academy preceding and during mealtimes (lunch at Main Campus and dinner at North Campus). Occasional evenings and weekends may be applicable for special events. This is a student-facing role so strong comfort-level working with students is a must.
