- Performs comprehensive and scheduled cleaning of bathrooms, garbage collection and removal; vacuuming, sweeping of floors, stairways., polishing of furniture, dusting of shelving, furniture, glass doors, windows and shelving, washing walls, utilize hi-speed buffing equipment and
- Setup and tear down of meeting rooms and equipment as required.
- Perform routine building maintenance and specialized cleaning.
- Maintain adequate custodial supplies including but not limited to supplies for bathrooms, and general building maintenance.
- Assist in various manual tasks such as emptying outside book drops, transporting books, etc.
- Inspection and general understanding of building's mechanical systems.
- Assist in opening and closing procedures,
- Travel between library buildings and runs errands, as needed.
- Respond to inclement weather conditions including spreading of de-icing material or shoveling as required.
- Communicate and work in conjunction with other custodians
- May be asked to perform minor repairs and painting of library spaces, as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned
- Knowledge of materials, methods, implements and devices used in cleaning operations.
- Ability to perform routine and occasionally strenuous work.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and/or basic written instructions and to perform work in a safe manner. Must be fluent in using email and text messaging.
- Ability to maintain a good working relationship with others, including all library staff
- Skill in making minor repairs including carpentry and painting.
- Good physical condition with strength to lift a minimum of 35 lbs. Ability to climb and use ladders.
- Ability to speak and read English
- Ability to work well independently.
- All positions are subject to an interview process.
Qualifications:
Required: High School graduate or equivalent. Valid Driver's License and personal car for deliveries. Minimum of Six (6) months of recent custodial experience preferred. Verifiable work record that demonstrates good attendance, a hard worker, and ability to work well with others.
Work Schedule:
Generally, will work 14 19 hours per week, mainly evening and weekends with some flexibility. Hours may fluctuate based on operational and seasonal needs.
