Building Maintenance Worker (Temporary)

Assist all Facilities staff and perform semi-skilled and skilled work involving painting, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and electrical maintenance in the alteration, repair, and maintenance of County equipment, buildings, and grounds. Perform preventive, scheduled, and custodial maintenance of the Justice Center grounds and facility. Work also involves snow and ice removal around County buildings.
Generally, the hiring rate is $18.97 to $23.72 per hour. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary.
Schedule is Monday Friday, 7:00 am 3:30 pm
As a temporary position, no benefits are available for this opening.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following examples are illustrative and are not intended to be all-inclusive.)
- Assists with the general maintenance of mechanical building equipment.
- Execute daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of buildings, and structures to determine cleanliness, functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repairs, making notes and recommendations using pre-established guidelines.
- Assists with basic construction and repair work on building facilities and equipment using various hand and power tools.
- Assists with snow and ice removal on sidewalks adjacent to County facilities.
- Sets up chairs and tables for meeting rooms and breaks them down when finished.
- Performs cleanliness inspections and janitorial cleaning duties in County offices, halls, conference rooms, and restrooms to maintain a clean facility.
- Assists with the relocation of office equipment and partitions.
- Makes repairs on doors, windows, floors, lockers, gates, roofs, and ceilings.
- Performs semi-skilled and skilled work involving painting, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and electrical maintenance tasks.
- Inspects and ensures that all facility lighting is in proper operation.
- Assists in a variety of carpentry and building tasks for County facilities.
- Follows best practices to maintain healthy and sanitary conditions.
- Completes accurate work orders and reports, including documenting time and materials used through the County work order process. Maintain preventive and unscheduled maintenance logs.
- Drive and operate various motorized and powered equipment in compliance with safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :
- A high school diploma or GED
- One year of building maintenance education.
- A combination of experience and education may be considered.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS :
- This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, through a national database.
- Must possess a valid Colorado drivers license upon hire and have compliant insurance. A review of the motor vehicle record is required at the time of hire and periodically throughout employment.

In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.
