Job Title: Janitor
Department: Maintenance
Work Hours: 1st Shift; Monday – Friday, 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Compensation: $19–$21 per hour

Summary of Responsibilities:

Keeps working areas in production and office departments of the industrial facility clean, safe, and orderly by performing janitorial duties and supporting general maintenance efforts in a heavy manufacturing/foundry environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, and break areas.
  • Sweep, mop, or dry floors, including production walkways and common areas.
  • Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, corridors, and other assigned areas.
  • Wash walls, ceilings, windows, doors, and sills.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers; transport waste to designated disposal or recycling areas.
  • Replenish bathroom and breakroom supplies as needed.
  • Maintain sidewalk safety during winter months, including snow removal and salting.
  • Pick up refuse from plant grounds and maintain exterior cleanliness.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE when working in or around production areas.
  • Assist with light maintenance tasks or special cleaning projects as assigned.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one settings.
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to follow one- or two-step instructions and apply common-sense reasoning.
  • Able to function in routine, standardized work environments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to walk, stand, talk, and hear.
  • Use of close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift/move up to 10 lbs; occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in hot, loud, and dusty environments typical of a foundry setting.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Good attendance record.
  • Ability to follow Baker Manufacturing procedures and policies.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid forklift operator’s license.
