Position Title: BRE Health Clinic Assistant / Assistant Cook
Hours: 32 hours per week (school year position)
Reports To: School Principal and/or Kitchen Manager

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and flexible individual to serve in a dual role supporting both the school health clinic and cafeteria. This unique position combines responsibilities from both the Health Clinic Assistant and Assistant Cook roles, ensuring the well-being of students through safe food service and attentive healthcare support. The ideal candidate is caring, detail-oriented, and comfortable multitasking in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities

Food Service & Kitchen Operations

  • Prepare and serve meals, salad bar items, and a la carte offerings following standardized recipes, procedures, and Health Department guidelines.

  • Maintain appropriate food temperatures, monitor kitchen equipment, and restock items as needed.

  • Operate point-of-sale systems and manage student accounts,
  • Clean and sanitize all kitchen areas, including dishes, equipment, and floors; ensure cleanliness before and after food service.

  • Support preparation for the next day’s meals by pulling items from storage and turning on necessary equipment.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to food safety, teamwork, and respectful service to students and staff.

Health Office Support

  • Input and maintain accurate student health records including immunizations, medications, and daily health visits.

  • Dispense authorized medications. Training will be provided. Applicant must be comfortable with various medication administration routes, such as oral liquids, topical ointments, inhalers, eye drops and injections as needed

  • Provide basic first aid and health assistance to students.
  • Coordinate services with community partners such as Elevated Community Health, Summit County Public Health and High Country Health Care.

  • Monitor immunization compliance and assist with planning on-site clinics.
  • Assist the school nurse with vision and hearing screenings, subsequent parent follow-up, and documentation of screening results.
  • Assist the school nurse with tracking illnesses and promoting disease prevention protocols throughout the school.
  • Assist school nurse in the management of high acuity students according to their individualized health care plans.

  • Order and organize medical supplies, assist with health screenings, and maintain student health files.

  • Serve as a welcoming and responsive presence for students and families who contact or visit the health office.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience in food service and/or health care support preferred.

  • Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to follow safety protocols and confidentiality guidelines.

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform physical cleaning and prep tasks.
