Lead worker for crew of workers in shoulder work operations, which includes the removal of high shoulders and the repairing and leveling of low shoulders along the edge of pavement; responsible for the cleaning of sideline and cross line ditches, and the installation of cross line and sideline pipe to ensure proper drainage along state right of way; operates motor grader in completing these assignments. Operates tandem dump truck in the hauling of various maintenance materials such as pipe, asphalt, dirt, sand, and coquina which is used in the maintenance of state highways and state rights of way. Operates large roller with drainage pipe repair and replacement on state right of way. As crew leader, in the absence of regular foreman; enters work performed into a program; completes time reports and ensures required paperwork is turned in to the maintenance office; assigns jobs to the various members of the crew and supervises the work being done. Flags traffic during roadway and/or electric repairs to ensure the safety of fellow employees and the traveling public. Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations, may include being available for extended working hours or 12 hour shifts.
Two (2) years of related work experience. Relevant education may substitute for the experience requirement. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operators license is required upon entry to the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. This position requires walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, and working in close proximity to motoring traffic and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions, noise, and oil or grease on a daily basis.
