    SALARY: Commensurate with salary schedules, starting base pay $15.29/hour

    Job Title: Food Service Cashier
    GENERAL DESCRIPTION
    Assist with the operations of Food Service related to the money received for school lunches by performing the following duties: PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS
    1. Report to work regularly and on time, prepared to perform appropriately assigned duties throughout the day, in service to students, staff, and the community.
    2. Prepare for and perform all assigned duties required by ones job description in a positive and collaborative manner.
    3. Follow justifiable directives issued by the established chain of authority with a learning-oriented attitude and seek support when needed.
    4. Identify, report, and/or if possible control unsafe conditions or safety hazards in order to maintain safe and secure working and learning environments.
    5. Demonstrate professional respect and integrity when interacting with students, parents, staff, community members and other stakeholders. This includes and is not limited to verbal, nonverbal, personal and electronic interactions.
    6. Comply with federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines that prohibit coercive, harassing, threatening, retaliating, bullying or discriminating conduct.
    7. Communicate in a truthful, timely, compassionate, and empathetic manner about any matter of interest to the District following the appropriate chain of authority.
    8. Manage District property and assets in an ethical and responsible manner in accordance with federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.
    9. Maintain confidentiality of information as required under federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.
    10. Report actions, through the appropriate chain of authority that may represent violations of federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.
    11. Refrain from unethical activity that may reasonably interfere with the legitimate operational interests and goals of the District.
    12. Comply with all other federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, and related administrative guidelines.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
    2. Experience in food service operations.
    3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Receive payment for cafeteria accounts.
    2. Record and verify number of lunches served to students and staff.
    3. Prepare change before lunchroom opens.
    4. Prepare all allergen and negative balance sheets.
    5. Count receipts following lunch period and record totals.
    6. Prepare the end of day reports make sure they match and have another party verify and initial.
    7. Restock milk when needed.
    8. Fill condiments when needed.
    9. Keep current list of free and reduced price lunches.
    10. Balance daily worksheets and document if free/reduced meals go beyond building limits.
    11. Ensure that appropriate paperwork is in cash box.
    12. Complete daily work sheet.
    13. Prepare the cash register for the lunch line on a daily basis.
    14. Determine and collect the correct amount to charge for each individual meal or item.
    15. Make contact with the public with tact and diplomacy.
    16. Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., free and reduced lunch students.
    17. Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents.
    18. Attend meetings and in-service as required.
    19. Count money in cash drawer and prepare cash drawer for next days operation.
    20. Keep records of all receipts and categorize them into childrens lunches, free and reduced lunches, children milk, children a la carte and adult receipts.
    21. Run total for each category at the end of each month and give to the Food Service Supervisor.
    22. See that napkins, silverware, straws, and condiments are in ample supply during serving of students.
    23. Help restock a la carte items and general cleanup as time permits.
    24. Assist in cleaning, cooking and serving areas along with helping in dish room.
    25. Promote good public relations.
    26. Enter correct items when completing student meals.
    27. Complete food services timesheets.
    28. Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner.
    29. Ability to work effectively with others.
    30. Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
    31. Effective, active listening skills.
    32. Organizational and problem solving skills.
    33. Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings and labels.
    34. Ability to operate a cash register Point of Sales System(POS).
    35. Basic math/bookkeeping skills.

    Copy machine
    1. Run charge letters.
    2. Clean serving area and kitchen areas, help in dish room when needed.
    3. Restock and count a la carte items, serve on the line.
    4. Clean all cooking areas when needed.
    5. Count money at end of the day.
    6. Perform other duties as assigned by Head Cook and appropriate supervisor.
    OTHER INFORMATION ASSOCIATED WITH THIS POSITION
    1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
    2. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions, i.e., being prepared to come to school on all scheduled school days, except calamity days.
    3. Occasional interaction with unruly children.
    4. Occasional requirement to travel, i.e., to pick up food or materials.
    5. Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
    6. Frequent exposure to loud noises.
    7. Occasional overtime work will be requested and expected of the employee.
    8. Frequent requirement to stand, walk, talk, hear, see (color vision required), read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms.
    9. Frequent requirement to lift, carry, push, and pull up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
    10. Frequent excessive standing during assigned workday.
    11. Frequent repetitive hand motions, e.g., operating cash register.
    12. Occasional requirement to climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    STATUS: Classified

    SALARY: Based on training and experience in accordance with the district salary schedule.
