Position Summary:
We are seeking a polished, hospitality-driven Maitre D to be the face of our guest experience. As the first point of contact, you will set the tone for service by warmly welcoming guests, managing reservations and walk-ins, and ensuring a seamless flow of dining room operations. You are a natural host, brand ambassador, and service leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Greet every guest with professionalism, warmth, and enthusiasm
- Manage nightly seating chart and dining room flow to optimize table turns and guest experience
- Oversee reservation platforms (RESY) and phone/email inquiries
- Maintain a detailed knowledge of VIP guests, frequent diners, and special occasions
- Communicate guest preferences, allergies, or notes to FOH/BOH teams effectively
- Handle waitlists, quote accurate wait times, and communicate status updates clearly
- Lead front desk team (hosts/hostesses), ensuring high standards of appearance and demeanor
- Support coat check, special events, and private dining coordination as needed
- Resolve guest complaints or concerns diplomatically and promptly, escalating as needed
- Monitor dining room atmospherelighting, music, guest satisfactionand adjust accordingly
Qualifications
2+ years of experience as a Maitre D or Lead Host in a high-volume NYC restaurant or hospitality venue
Impeccable grooming, communication skills, and guest-focused mindset
Deep understanding of hospitality etiquette, pacing, and reservation dynamics
Familiarity with POS systems and reservation software (Resy / Toast)
Calm and composed under pressure, excellent multitasking skills
Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
Knowledge of fine dining, wine, and culinary trends is a plus
