POSITION OVERVIEW: Building Custodian III, 2nd Shift - PATHS / Casco Bay High

This Custodial Supervisor (BCIII) position oversees custodial operations at PATHS / Casco Bay High School, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment. Reporting to the Head Custodian, this role involves supervising custodial staff, performing hands-on cleaning and maintenance, and ensuring efficient daily operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise custodial staff, assign tasks, and assist with cleaning duties.
• Perform cleaning tasks such as dusting, mopping, disinfecting, trash removal, and floor maintenance (stripping/waxing).
• Conduct inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards are met.
• Oversee building security, including ensuring proper closing procedures.
• Identify and report repair needs; perform minor emergency fixes as necessary.
• Train custodial staff in proper cleaning techniques and equipment use.
• Receive, stock, and manage custodial supplies and equipment.
• Monitor building conditions, including heating, cooling, and general maintenance.
• Operate machinery, lifting/moving equipment, and perform snow removal as needed.
• Work from ladders, replace light bulbs, and perform light painting and repairs.
• Follow and enforce safety procedures and report hazards as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Proficient in English reading, writing, and speaking.
• Knowledge of building maintenance, cleaning practices, and custodial equipment.
• Ability to supervise, train, and work alongside custodial staff.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace and basic computer operations.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs (up to 100 lbs with assistance) and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Three to five years of custodial or maintenance experience, with supervisory experience preferred.
• Must pass a post-offer physical exam.

PHYSICAL & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to perform manual labor, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, grasping, twisting, bending, climbing, and repetitive motion.
• Must be available for overtime, night shifts, and snow removal as needed.
• Employees must maintain an active phone number with their supervisor.

CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:

• Year-round position
• Permanent
• Full time, 1.0 FTE
• Schedule (2nd shift): Monday–Friday, 2:00–10:30 PM
• Hourly position, eligible for overtime
• Covered under BASE contract (see 2023-2026 CBA here )
• Pay offered based on experience as outlined in CBA
• Pay range: $21.39-$27.40 per hour
