Forest Maintenance Worker (Semi Skilled Laborer) (Seasonal) - Susquehannock Forest District

In this position, you will be responsible for performing groundskeeping tasks at various offices and facilities within Susquehannock Forest District. Your duties will encompass a range of activities, including mowing, trimming, mulching, raking, sweeping, and general cleaning. Additionally, you will assist with the maintenance of diesel tanks and conduct monthly water sampling at the District Office. Your role will also involve supporting the upkeep and repair of District vehicles and equipment. A critical aspect of this job is responding to emergency calls and traveling throughout the District to aid in breakdown investigations and repairs. You will be tasked with picking up and delivering parts for equipment repairs as needed, while ensuring that the shop area and equipment remain clean, organized, safe, and secure. Furthermore, you will perform manual labor, operate hand and portable power tools, and engage in cutting and welding metals as required. You will also collaborate with semi-skilled laborers and other District staff on regeneration fund activities and other assigned projects.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2026.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Wednesday, 7:00 AM to 4:30, Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Occasional overtime and travel required
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction ; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position will require possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C drivers license or equivalent.
