Part-Time; 20 Hours Per Week; 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Serves as a liaison between the patient, nursing staff and the Food and Nutrition Services Department. Distributes trays to patients, guests and employees and coordinates all food requests. Records all cafeteria customers through register, collects money and issues change. Displays prompt and courteous service to customers and communicates effectively with them. Ensures proper food handling, adequate supplies are stored correctly and sanitation procedures are followed.

ResponsibilitiesStandards
- Responsible for properly documenting all HACCP/department logs in accordance to policies and procedures.
- Ensures that all food service stations/patient floors have an accurate amount of food/supplies, they are properly FIFO rotated, labeling/dating are used correctly and sanitation procedures are followed.
- Follows AIDET scripting and service recovery procedures.
- Assists in meeting patients dietary needs by assisting them with menus and meal ordering, passing and collection of meal trays, explanation of diets, distributing nourishments, responding to patients requests, and documenting intakes. Assists patients with opening containers, condiments and adjusting tray stand.
- Maintains daily cleaning tasks and ensures they are all completed and documented on proper logs.
- Maintains and adheres to all procedures in order to serve attractive, palatable, and safe food for all patients and guest.
- Records all cafeteria customers through register, collects money and issues change.
Knowledge
- Understands tray identification system and basic nutrition/diet knowledge as related to the patient menu program
- Produces attractive, palatable, accurate patient meal trays.
- Follows HIPAA, JCAHO, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guidelines in healthcare.
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper infection control and food safety standards as evidenced by good hand hygiene and hand washing. Follows all isolation standards and procedures.
- Preforms basic cash handling procedures

- Communicates effectively with patient, guests, nursing, and co-workers

Required
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written communication in English.
- Ability to perform basic math.
Preferred
- Previous experience in customer service skills are preferred but not required
- Knowledge in the area of modified diets is preferred.
