Temporary Janitor

About the Role:

The Temporary Janitor position at our Grand Rapids site, located in the Consumer Support Services industry, is essential for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for both employees and visitors. This role focuses on performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure that all facilities meet health and safety standards. The janitor will be responsible for routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waste disposal, contributing directly to the overall operational efficiency of the center. This temporary role requires adaptability and attention to detail to address the dynamic needs of the facility during the assignment period. Ultimately, the janitor will play a key role in supporting the organization's commitment to providing a professional and hygienic workspace.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Basic understanding of cleaning procedures and the safe use of cleaning chemicals.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality to fulfill scheduled shifts.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a consumer support services or similar office environment.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to cleaning and sanitation.
• Certification or training in the use of cleaning equipment and chemical handling.
• Strong communication skills to effectively report issues and coordinate with team members.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts or overtime if required during the temporary period.

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting floors and surfaces throughout the facility.
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including replenishing supplies and ensuring fixtures are in good working order.
• Maintain cleanliness in common areas, break rooms, and office spaces to promote a healthy work environment.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the facilities management team promptly.
• Follow all safety protocols and use cleaning chemicals and equipment responsibly to prevent accidents.
• Assist with setup and cleanup for special events or meetings as needed during the temporary assignment.
