Job DetailsPRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION :
To provide friendly, courteous and professional service to guests in the hotels banquet facilities and other Food & Beverage Outlets as needed, while maintaining high level of service as per Langham Hospitality Group and Forbes standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES :
- Ensure proper set-ups for all tables and bars in assigned meeting rooms according to banquet event orders, attention to detail.
- Review banquet event orders and comply with requirements.
- Inspect linen, silver, china, and other table items for cleanliness and appearance.
- Serve food, coffee, water and other beverages to customers as required on the banquet event order.
- Resolve complaints in regard to banquet functions in positive and professional manner.
- Cooperate closely with other members of the banquet team including servers, porters and kitchen associates.
- Communicate with Banquet Management on a daily basis.
- Clean banquet rooms and banquet areas during and after banquet functions.
- Positive team player with the ability to get larger tasks completed.
- Acquire a working knowledge of the hotel, in house facilities and local information to respond to customer inquiries about the area.
- Follow health and safety procedures.
- Work well in a team atmosphere and independently.
- Self-motivated and friendly, able to work with a diverse team of people.
- Attend monthly department meetings.
- Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by your supervisor to adhere to health standards.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested e.g., special guest requests.
- Must adhere to all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests to ensure all laws are being followed.
- Other duties as assigned such as assisting security with disorderly guests.
- Report duty as scheduled by direct supervisor according to operating hours.
- Provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham Hospitality Group standards.
- Be fully versed in all Forbes service standards.
- Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
- Activities include standing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, handling, grasping, lifting, carrying, seeing, hearing, talking, walking. Considerable repetitive motion of hands and wrists as pertaining to pouring of drinks from bottles and shaking with shakers.
- Requires the ability to lift and carry object weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Standing for 90% of work shift is required.
SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED :
- Must have basic knowledge of food and beverages preparation.
- Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
- Ability to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and other staff members.
- Ability to operate beverage equipment: coffeemaker, iced tea machine, etc.
EDUCATION REQUIRED :
Any combination of education, training or experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
Prior Food and Beverage experience required.

Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate.
SALARY RANGE :
$9.40 - $11.75/hour, plus Banquet service charge
