Performs housekeeping duties in the care and cleaning of the Social Services Department in the Human Services Facility.
The employee performs a variety of duties in the care and cleaning of assigned areas. Work is guided by a daily schedule for general assignments and specific instructions for special assignments. Work of employee involves contact with the public using the county facilities and requires tact and courtesy in responding to requests. Employee is subject to hazards in property cleaning and maintaining the upkeep of the facility including working in both inside and outside environments and exposure to cleaning solutions. Duties may also expose the employees to human body fluids and thus the work is subject to the OSAH requirements on blood borne pathogens.
Essential Duties and Tasks
Dusting desks, tables, file cabinets and bookcases etc. Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floor surfaces. Cleaning walls, windows, blinds, woodwork and light fixtures. Assuring clean restroom areas and replenishing paper supplies, soap and dish soap as necessary. Assuring clean kitchen area and replenishing paper supplies and soap. Empty trash containers and replace liners, break down boxes and dispose of properly outside. Uses tools and equipment such as vacuum cleaners, brooms, mops, and wringers.

General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment. Ability to identify cleaning needs and resolve with appropriate methods and supplies. Ability to perform manual labor requiring continuous physical effort. Ability to follow instructions without close supervision. Ability to perform moderate physical work. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with peers and supervisors, and the public requiring tact and courtesy in responding to requests.

Must possess a valid NC driver's license upon hire.
