Maintenance Mechanic**

**Job Description**

Join our team as a Maintenance Mechanic, where you will be responsible for performing electrical and mechanical maintenance on all equipment within the facility. You will troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed, ensuring optimal functionality and safety. Additionally, you will assist in preventive maintenance and collaborate with operators to maintain seamless operations.

**Responsibilities**

+ Perform electrical maintenance on all equipment.

+ Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.

+ Conduct preventive maintenance on all manufacturing equipment.

+ Assist operators when necessary.

+ Maintain familiarity with NEC standards.

+ Help in maintaining spare parts inventory.

+ Contribute to special projects including equipment installation and safety improvements.

+ Install and maintain electrical and electronics systems of the plant and equipment.

+ Layout and repair machine parts, operating typical tools to machine parts to exacting tolerances.

+ Diagnose machine malfunctions and make necessary repairs and adjustments.

+ Assemble and align units and machines.

+ Create sketches of replacement parts.

+ Maintain a safe and clean working environment.

+ Be available for call-in for equipment and building maintenance issues.

+ Follow SQF guidelines.

+ Perform other duties as assigned.

+ Determine and resolve mechanical breakdowns efficiently.

+ Address basic electrical breakdowns and return equipment to proper operation.

+ Assemble or disassemble production lines or support equipment for repairs or installations.

+ Make mechanical and basic electrical adjustments to ensure proper operation.

+ Regularly inspect production lines and support equipment, performing preventive maintenance routines.

+ Order spare parts and other materials as needed.

+ Safely use a wide variety of hand tools and shop machines.

+ Enter work through CMMS system and complete assignments as directed.

+ Communicate ongoing issues and resolutions with proper documentation and root cause analysis.

+ Complete required safety work orders and report back to supervisor.

**Essential Skills**

+ Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance.

+ Experience with printing, extrusion, and thermoforming equipment.

+ Plumbing skills for installing various pipes and fixtures.

+ Proficiency in operating tools such as lathes, drills, presses, and milling machines.

+ High School Diploma or equivalent; vocational certificate preferred.

+ Computer literacy.

+ Knowledge of electrical systems, including distribution and circuits.

+ Understanding of PLCs, ladder logic, and machine control devices.

+ Understanding of lubrication procedures.

+ Basic understanding of mechanical systems.

+ Ability to read schematics and blueprints.

+ Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

+ Minimum three years of technical training.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ Vocational certificate preferred.

+ Experience in plumbing and electrical system maintenance.

+ Understanding of lubrication procedures.

+ Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and devices.

**Work Environment**

The position is located in a flexible packaging environment, operating two shifts from 5am-5pm and 5pm-5am, Monday-Wednesday or Monday-Thursday, with schedules known two weeks in advance. The average schedule is Monday-Thursday, providing three or four-day weekends. The overnight shift starts Monday afternoon. There are light odors from adhesives used, and while the facility is not air-conditioned, large fans maintain a reasonable temperature. On extra hot days, water and cold treats are provided. As a food and medical packaging environment, employees must wear hairnets and masks, though masks may be lifted soon. No beard nets are required.

This is a Contract position based out of Schaumburg, Illinois.

**Pay and Benefits**

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $40.00/hr.
