Parks and Recreation Aide 6 (Housekeeping/Maintenance/Patrol) - Peebles Island Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation, Office of Cohoes, NY 12047 The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Under the supervision of the Unit Supervisor, the position will perform a range of light maintenance, housekeeping, safeguarding and patrol duties at Peebles Island. Duties include but are not limited to: Perform light duties in building and ground maintenance, complete snow removal by shoveling snow and operating plow vehicles in the winter months. Perform general janitorial duties to ensure a clean and safe environment, which will include daily cleaning and sanitizing of facility restrooms, kitchen areas, and common areas; trash removal and restocking of paper goods and other supplies as needed throughout facility, i.e. soap, paper towels, etc. Assist in loading and unloading cargo from vehicles and storage areas. Assist in cleaning and checking fleet vehicles for basic maintenance. Assist in emergency situations by applying emergency practice and procedures, assisting and directing staff; and assist with traffic control and parking vehicles. Assist with semi-skilled maintenance and repair activities in a variety of trades such as painting, carpentry, mechanical repairs, check drains and assist with moving equipment/furniture or deliveries as needed. Participate in the general event set-up and take-down of tents, tables, chairs, and other necessary equipment as operationally needed. Must be able to communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons in a responsible and courteous manner. Performing other related duties as assigned. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: No minimum qualification per Civil Service. Additional comments regarding the vacancy. Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment. Must be willing to keep current on all mandated safety trainings, including First Aid and CPR/AED. Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor, including medium-heavy lifting and using step ladders Applicants must be willing to work outdoors year-round and in all weather conditions.
