Recycling Equipment/Maintenance Technician (Hydraulic)

We're looking for a maintenance technician with hydraulic and electro-mechanical experience preferred!

In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of hydraulic equipment and systems. Experience with hydraulics is preferred . The most critical duties include:

  • Troubleshooting and repairing electric-over-hydraulic controls

  • Working with hydraulic pumps, valves, and motors

  • Applying broad electro-mechanical knowledge to ensure optimal equipment performance

Reporting directly to the Solid Waste Equipment/Facility Superintendent the Recycling Equipment/Maintenance Technician performs generalized labor and technical skills in the maintenance and repair of machinery, buildings and equipment.

Hours : Full-time position with flexible 8-hour shifts scheduled based on your availability and during our operational hours. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, between 4:00 AM and 12:00 midnight. Overtime may be available. Hours will be discussed during the interview process.

  • Ideal candidate will be experienced on various hydraulic equipment and hydraulic systems.
  • Be able to troubleshoot and repair electric over hydraulic controls.
  • Have experience with hydraulic pumps, valves, motors.
  • Have well rounded electro-mechanical experience.
  • Performs various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of machinery, buildings, and equipment.
  • Tests, troubleshoots, maintains, and evaluates equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and pressure gages.
  • Checks and repairs pumps, fans, valves, and motors.
  • Prepares accurate records for preventative maintenance performed.
  • Performs equipment operations for testing and production.
  • Communicates arising problems to department supervisors.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance, works overtime/extra hours as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Two years' experience in equipment preventative maintenance and repair.
  • General experience in facility or plant maintenance work.
  • Two years technical school training and trade certification preferred.
  • Or, any combination of education and experience which provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • This position does require successful completion of a Post Offer Pre Employment Examination (POPE).

    • Knowledge of and ability to operate and service trucks, tractors, and light equipment.
    • Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations involved in equipment operation.
    • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, and cope with distracting vibrations, fumes, dust, etc.
    • Ability to read gauges, dials, etc.
    • Ability to budget time and schedule work to efficiently complete tasks.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and figure simple mathematical calculations.
    • Ability to organize and schedule work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers.
    • Understanding of basic electronics related to computerized building maintenance systems and ability to troubleshoot and program these systems.
    • Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices used in at least two of the building, electrical or mechanical trades.
    • Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved.
    • Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment used in the trades involved.
    • Ability to detect defects in equipment and to make proper repairs or adjustments.
    • Ability to lead a small group of semi-skilled workers.
    • Ability to interpret and work from pencil sketches and diagrams.
