This is skilled manual work in the alteration, maintenance and repair of municipal buildings, facilities, and grounds. Work involves the use of skilled trade knowledge to install, clean, repair and replace various facility components such as doors, cabinets, fencing, and playground equipment. Work may also include reading manuals, blueprints, and schematics to determine installation and repair needs; skilled use of a variety of tools; other skilled work including painting, carpentry, masonry, mechanical repairs, and minor welding; and preventative and scheduled maintenance. Work is often performed outdoors and occasionally in inclement weather. Work may involve lead worker responsibility over one or more semi-skilled workers on an assigned project.

Salary: $23.02 - $32.63 Hourly

To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

  • Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
  • HHave three (3) years of experience as a skilled trade worker in one or more of the following trades: carpentry, painting, masonry, mechanical repairs, and/or minor welding.
  • Be a skilled trade worker able to competently install, clean, repair and replace various facility components such as carpentry framing and finish work, painting, flooring, doors, door hardware including locking mechanism repair and replacement, and chain link fence installation and repair.
  • Be able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Have some skill using a personal computer.
  • Have some supervisory experience.
  • Are able to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams.
