Job Description


4-day work week! 6:00AM to 4:00PM Monday through Thursday OR Tuesday through Friday

This position will be filled at one of the following levels depending upon candidate qualifications:

Maintenance Worker I ($21.19 -$28.68 hourly)
Performs a variety of unskilled to semi-skilled duties related to maintenance of Metro's facilities. Works under the direction of a supervisor.

Maintenance Worker II ($22.89 -$30.98 hourly)
Performs a variety of industrial maintenance duties related to maintenance of Metro's facilities. Works under the direction of a supervisor.

Senior Maintenance Worker ($24.28 -$33.89 hourly)
Performs a variety of semi-skilled duties related to maintenance of Metro's facilities. Works under the direction of a supervisor.

Qualifications:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
NTP Maintenance Worker I
Knowledge of:

  • Safety methods, processes and procedures
  • Landscaping and grounds maintenance
  • General office processes and procedures
  • MS Office software

Skilled at:

  • Basic maintenance
  • Using basic hand tools, power tools, and lawn/grounds maintenance equipment (mowers, edgers, trimmers, etc.)
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Understanding and following verbal and written instructions to successfully complete assigned work to a high level of detail
  • Utilizing technology to seek and share resources and information
  • Manual tasks requiring hand-eye coordination, balance, lifting, climbing, and spatial awareness

Ability to:

  • Work safely in a group with supervision
  • Read procedures, manuals, Safety Data Sheet precautions, parts breakdowns and work order directions
  • Perform basic arithmetic calculations
  • Use measurement devices
  • Perform effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Identify problems, craft effective solutions, act decisively and demonstrate good judgement
  • Work safely indoors and outdoors year-round, in extreme weather and around industrial equipment

NTP Maintenance Worker II
Knowledge of:

  • Safety methods, processes and procedures
  • Basic equipment operation, mechanical work, electrical work
  • Industrial facility/plant maintenance or water/wastewater treatment plant maintenance
  • General office processes and procedures
  • MS Office software

Skilled at:

  • Maintaining grounds and buildings 
  • Basic Equipment operation 
  • Semi-trade skills (such as painting, drywall, plumbing, etc....)
  • Using hand tools and power tools
  • Preventative maintenance and industrial cleaning 
  • Working autonomously to efficiently perform tasks alone or as a team in a safe and productive manner
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing

Ability to:

  • Operate specialized industry equipment (i.e. forklift, telehandler, skid steer, crane, etc.) 
  • Safely work alone and in groups with minimal supervision
  • Use and navigate Electronic Asset Management (EAM) software
  • Train and mentor maintenance staff
  • Follow verbal and written instructions
  • Read procedures, manuals, SDS precautions, parts breakdowns and work order directions
  • Perform basic arithmetic calculations

  • Cleaning and maintaining industrial facilities and grounds
  • Industrial facility safety procedures
  • Operating hand and power tools, including powered equipment used in lawn, grounds and building maintenance work 
  • Equipment operation
  • Rough carpentry, masonry, and rough concrete work
  • Painting including sandblasting, grinding, and wire brushing
  • Performing effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Identifying problems, crafting solutions, acting decisively and demonstrating good judgement
  • Working autonomously to efficiently perform tasks alone or as a team in a safe and productive manner

Education
Graduation from high school or GED and a valid driver’s license. Valid forklift, qualified crane rigger and signal person and overhead and mobile crane certification.
