Job Summary
This position is responsible for planning and maintaining all aspects of food service at St. Annes child development center.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties/responsibilities listed below. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this job.

  1. Assist Lead Cook in ensuring that SACFC food and wellness policies, USDA, and Health Department requirements for food standards are implemented.
  2. Assist in menu preparation, cooking/food preparation, and kitchen sanitation.
  3. Assist in preparing and maintaining records and reports for Child Care and Adult Food Program (CACFP).
  4. Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in the kitchen at all times in accordance with accepted sanitation procedures per childcare licensing.
  5. Support classrooms by preparing and delivering carts with necessary food and equipment for family style food service.
  6. Safely operate and assist in overseeing maintenance of kitchen equipment.
  7. Other duties as assigned by Program Director/Program Coordinators.
  8. Uses appropriate administrative, fiscal, physical, and technical safeguards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and security of CCEW client protected health information (PHI), per regulations outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
  9. Will regularly utilize all forms of communication (email, text, phone, etc.) and database practices necessary for this position and as directed by supervisor.
  10. Adheres to the tenets of Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Doctrine.
  11. Performs as a team member to assure that productivity outcome measures are achieved.
  12. Performs related functions necessary to support the mission and core values of Catholic Charities.

Job Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job.

Education/Experience:
to perform this job successfully, an individual must have: a High School Diploma or a General Education Degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Food quality standards including health guidelines and Safety and sanitation standards. Knowledge and experience working in a childcare setting preferred. Accredited Nutrition course preferred. To perform this job successfully a culinary arts degree or experience in organizational food service is preferred.

Certificates/Licenses: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the ability to successfully pass a Department of Early Learning (DEL) background check and register in MERIT system. An individual must have Blood Borne Pathogen training, First Aid, CPR, a Food Handlers permit.

Physical Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:

  • Regularly sit, stand, climb, walk, hear/listen, talk
  • Frequently
    lift up to 30 pounds, pull/push, carry, grasp, reach, taste, smell
  • Occasionally crawl, stoop, kneel
  • Clearly see 20+ feet, with or without corrective lenses, ability to focus
  • Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must complete a tuberculosis test

Workplace Environmental Conditions

While performing the essential duties/responsibilities of this job, the employee will be:

  • Noise Conditions: exposed during a shift to constant or intermittent sounds at quiet to moderate levels of sound dependent upon the activities of the Center
