QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate

2. Previous experience as a custodian.

3. Must have valid Kentucky driver’s license.

4. Has met health requirements as specified in district personnel policy.

JOB GOAL:

Supervise, organize, and participate in custodial services; supervise and evaluate assigned custodial personnel.

1.0 GENERAL KNOWLEDGE BASE

3.0 PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1 Schedules, organizes, supervises and participates in a variety of custodial services.

3.2 Trains, supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned staff and student assistant; trains custodial personnel in the proper techniques of custodial duties; assigns and reviews work and participates in custodial and routine maintenance activities as needed.

3.3 Develops and prepares work schedules and assignments; coordinates duties and assignments to assure effective operations.

3.4 Determines, recommends and requisitions needed custodial supplies and equipment.

3.5 Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports including employee timesheets, inventory levels, facilities status and work performed.

3.6 Responds to request, from faculty to assist with a variety of emergency or special custodial and

clean-up duties.

3.7 Supervises and participates in the cleaning and care of classrooms, restrooms, offices, showers, shops and related facilities in a clean, safe and orderly manner.

3.8 Cleans and services custodial equipment as required.

3.9 Assures compliance with local laws and procedures regarding the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.

3.10 Coordinates and participates as needed in sweeping, scrubbing, mopping and waxing floors;

vacuums and shampoos rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops and other work

areas; washes windows, chalkboards and walls; dusts and cleans furniture and facilities; assists

with snow removal as needed.

3.11 Performs minor non-technical repairs and adjustments to buildings, equipment and fixtures.

3.12 Supervises project crews during summer months for special cleaning assignments.

3.13 Practices safety precautions and is safety conscious at all times.

3.14 Reports to immediate supervisor any items requiring maintenance and an unusual or unsafe

condition.

3.15 Operates and maintains powered cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbing machines, other

automatic scrubbers, wet/dry vacuums, carpet vacuums, carpet shampooers, pile brush vacuums,

and pressure washers.

3.16 Uses and maintains non-powered cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, cleaning cloths, spray bottles, brushes and custodial carts.

3.17 Performs grounds care tasks in assigned areas in accordance with established procedures. These tasks include, but are not limited to mowing edging, trimming, pruning, watering, fertilizing,

reseeding, applying fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, and sterilants. In addition, performs

regular policing tasks such as picking up trash, emptying trash containers, sweeping sidewalks,

parking areas, and roadways; cleaning storm drains, catch basins, swales, and unclogging drains

if they should become obstructed with trash and debris.

3.18 Provides manual labor for a variety of tasks as directed by immediate supervisor. Manual labor

tasks include, but are not limited to: moving furniture and equipment; setting up tables, chairs,

exhibits and displays; loading and unloading trucks, etc.

3.19 Uses and maintains non-powered grounds care equipment such as shovels, axes, slings, hoes, wheelbarrows, saws, trimmers, hedge trimmers, trash pickup stick, trash sack or trash container.

3.20 Moves office and school furniture and equipment as required to perform assigned cleaning and

grounds care work tasks.

3.21 Participates in off-shift, weekend, holiday, and "on-call" coverage.

3.22 Demonstrates loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of the Ohio County Schools.

3.23 Performs other duties as directed by the Principal.
