ANTICIPATED Food Service Assistant

Position Summary:

The Food Service Assistant will be responsible for program compliance and implementation for the campus. This position will ensure accurate coding and documentation of student lunch applications, TEA and USDA submissions and will adhere to program guidelines as directed by the central SNS staff.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Food Service Certification required

Experience:

  • Previous experience as a school cafeteria manager preferred
  • Minimum 2 years experience in food service supervision required

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Manages the Food Service Operation to meet requirements in accordance with TEA/TDA/USDA guidelines for Texas.
  2. Review, verify and approve/disapprove student meal applications on a daily basis to ensure accurate listing of students eligible for participation in free/reduced meal program.
  3. Ensure each school cafeteria staff is notified as students are enrolled and become eligible for the free/reduced meal program and students become ineligible or exit the school.
  4. Monitors and prepares all Food Service reports and records.
  5. Perform random student eligibility verification as assigned by the Director, SNS.
  6. Provides supervision for a staff of Food Service Assistants.
  7. Perform safety and sanitation inspections each month using the Standard Inspection Form developed for Food Service use. Report findings to Director, SNS.
  8. Monitor and/or prepare Food Production Records as assigned by Director, SNS.
  9. Monitors and/or prepares accurate records to ensure counting and claiming of meals are accurate and that all funds are accurately accounted for.
  10. Ensure bank deposits of Food Service funds are made as assigned by the Director, SNS.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Supervise Food Service Assistants

Equipment Used:

Personal computer, printer, fax machine, copier, and calculator.

Working Conditions:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Must be able to lift 35 pounds regularly. Must be able to stand long periods at a time. Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer.

Work Schedule:

Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Reporting schedule and lunch are subject to be changed by the Director of SNS
