Position Summary:

The Bartender at Roxy Bar is responsible for providing outstanding beverage service while creating a welcoming and energetic guest experience. This role requires a high level of skill in classic and contemporary mixology, consistent adherence to Roxy Bars service standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment. Bartenders must demonstrate expert knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic offerings, along with advanced mixology techniques including ingredient balancing, proper dilution, shaking, stirring, and garnish application. A strong understanding of cocktail history, seasonal trends, and flavor profiles is essential. Bartenders must also maintain bar cleanliness, ensure all service meets or exceeds Department of Health (DOH) standards, and work collaboratively with the front-of-house team to deliver seamless service. Success in this role demands professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask while engaging guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide warm, professional, and engaging service to guests at the bar and in surrounding lounge areas.
  • Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages using correct recipes, techniques, and presentation standards.
  • Demonstrate advanced mixology knowledge, including ingredient balance, proper dilution, shaking/stirring methods, layering, and creative garnishing.
  • Ensure bar stations are fully stocked, organized, and maintained throughout service, including all ingredients, tools, glassware, and garnishes.
  • Uphold all Department of Health (DOH) standards including cleanliness, food safety labeling, temperature controls, and sanitation protocols.
  • Perform bar opening and closing duties, including station setup/breakdown, ice management, trash removal, and cleaning of all bar surfaces and tools.
  • Monitor and manage alcohol consumption, ensuring responsible service at all times in line with TIPS certification.
  • Support the floor team by fulfilling drink orders for service bar efficiently and accurately during high-volume periods.
  • Proactively engage guests, offering recommendations, sharing knowledge about the beverage program, and personalizing the guest experience.
  • Communicate any product shortages, guest issues, or equipment concerns to the Head Bartender or Management in real time.
  • Maintain beverage cost awareness by avoiding waste, following portion control, and executing standard pours.
  • Participate in tastings, menu rollouts, training sessions, and pre-shift meetings to stay informed and aligned with team goals.
  • Accurately handle all transactions including cash, credit card, and room charge payments in accordance with hotel procedures.
  • Ensure all workstations are visually aligned with brand standards including back bar, shelving, bar tops, and garnish displays.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working in high volume & fine dining with specialty cocktail program
  • Extensive knowledge of spirits, wines and non-alcoholic beverages origins, creation and character
  • Mixology knowledge, understanding and ability to use bar tools effectively to create craft cocktails
  • Excellent in guest service, and the ability to maintain professional service during peak periods
  • Knowledge of food and all allergies related to food and beverage
  • Experience maintaining DOH standards above and beyond what is expected
  • Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal
  • Provide legible communication.
  • Must be TIPs Certified
  • Compute basic arithmetic
  • Have the ability to reach, bend, stoop, climb up and down stairs, carry multiple objects

Ability to:

  • Excel in all guest service opportunities. Anticipate and understand guests service needs.
  • Ensure the work area is properly set for service, as directed by management
  • Complete accurate inventory and maintain par levels for all required ingredients and tools behind the bar
  • Maintain DOH standards throughout shift and a clean workspace
  • Deep clean workspaces during downtime and before checking out on every shift
  • Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment. Demonstrate ownership of the guest experience
  • Follow directions thorough to completion
  • Multitask while preparing beverages for guest as well as dealing with high volume of service
  • Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team. Build team morale
  • Expected to complete task in timely manner
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($11.00) plus tips
