Smoke Door Lake Tahoe Saryo is a refined, Japanese-inspired dining experience highlighting
seasonal ingredients from Japan and the Tahoe region, cooked over wood fire in an intimate

Position Overview:
We are looking for a warm, professional Host/Hostess to be the first point of contact for our
guests. As the face of Smoke Door, you will create a welcoming atmosphere, coordinate seating
efficiently, and manage reservations to ensure smooth service flow.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet guests with warmth and professionalism upon arrival.
Manage reservations and walk-ins using our booking system (e.g., OpenTable).
Organize and maintain a smooth flow of seating to optimize guest experience and
kitchen pacing.
Communicate effectively with servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff.
Answer phone calls, provide accurate restaurant information, and take messages as
needed.
Maintain a clean and inviting host stand and entry area.
Assist with coat check and guest needs upon departure.
Uphold the Smoke Door standard of hospitality with every interaction.
Qualifications:
Previous host or front-of-house experience in a fine dining or upscale environment
preferred.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Professional, polished demeanor with strong attention to detail.
Familiarity with reservation software (OpenTable or similar) is a plus.
Ability to stand for extended periods and maintain composure in a fast-paced setting.
Weekend, holiday, and evening availability required.
