There is a vacancy for a Cleaner assigned to the Greenvale School. This is a 12-month, non-competitive position, subject to a 52-week probationary period. Internal candidates who currently hold the title of Cleaner may apply for a transfer to this assignment. Requests for transfer are subject to administrative review and approval.
Responsibilities:
- Sweeps, mops and waxes floors;
- Vacuum carpets, floors and able to use automated cleaning equipment;
- Cleans restrooms and replenishes restroom supplies;
- Empties trash receptacles;
- Dusts woodwork, furniture, and other articles;
- Washes windows, blackboards, walls, and restroom fixtures;
- Moves and arranges chairs, tables, and other furniture or equipment;
- Snow removal;
- Mows lawns;
- Replaces light bulbs;
- When given the authority, may unlock rooms to allow access for routine housekeeping, inspections and professional services and lock rooms to ensure building security;
- Shall report to superiors on the condition of buildings, rooms in terms of their cleanliness and disrepair;
- May be assigned to other duties as required by the Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of building and cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment;
- Ability to use building cleaning supplies and equipment;
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions;
- Ability to read and write English;
- Dependable and thorough;
- Physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position.
Employment Terms:
- Hours: 2:30:00 PM - 11:30 PM - hours may vary depending on school/district needs
- Salary Range: $41,350- $60,238 in accordance with the corresponding CSEA salary scale - step placement is contingent upon prior experience
- Fingerprint Clearance: SAVE Law: Effective July 1, 2001, Education Law 305(30), 3004-b, 3004-c and 3035, as amended by Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and Part 87 of the Commissioner's Regulations require the Commissioner of Education to request a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check for applicants for certification as well as for prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES). The Commissioner of Education carries out these responsibilities through the New York State
