POSITION OVERVIEW

Desert Champions is hiring for a Server Assistant for NOBU - Indian Wells. This position requires assistance to servers and other front of house staff to improve the customer experience. The server assistant is responsible welcoming guests, assisting with food and beverage service, cleaning, stocking, and resetting table as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • In the NOBU style welcome every guest in a kind and courteous manner to ensure a smooth and memorable dining experience *
  • Follow established policies and procedures, including safety and sanitation, to ensure safe, high-quality food is provided *
  • Clean and reset tables, including removal of dirty/empty plates, glasses, and other items *
  • Assist with getting water for section and running drinks *
  • Clean, maintain and stock gueridons (workstations) throughout shift *
  • Polish cutlery plates and glasses *
  • Help Servers where necessary, including running food *
  • Be able to give an accurate and detailed description of every dish; menu and non-menu items *
  • Maintain coffee station and polishing tables *
  • Support the rest of the floor when assigned section is maintained *
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings; maintain certifications *

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Some experience in a fine dining and/or Japanese restaurants preferred
  • Knowledge of Japanese cuisine, spirits, sake, cooking techniques, and culture preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and OTHER ABILITIES

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • California Workplace Harassment certification
  • Riverside County Food Safety certification
  • Responsible Beverage Service certification

LAUNGUAGE ABILITY

  • Ability to speak effectively with guests, vendors, and co-workers
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand English

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Basic computer literacy
  • Access to email
  • Time clock
