Substitute Custodian
Job Summary
Under general supervision, to keep assigned buildings and grounds clean and orderly; and to do other work as assigned.
Job Description / Essential Elements:
On a call in basis when a custodian employee is absent.
Knowledge of: Basic cleaning methods, procedures, and techniques; cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment, safe working methods and procedures; grounds care and maintenance.
Ability to: Perform moderately heavy manual activities efficiently and effectively use cleaning materials, supplies and equipment. Understand and carryout oral and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff members, students parents and other community members.
Experience: Six months of experience involved with the care and cleaning of buildings and facilities.
Essential Functions:
Sweep, mop and wash floors. Vacuum and clean rugs and carpets.
Dust, wash and polish furniture and woodwork. Polish metalwork.
Empty and clean waste receptacles.
Clean erasers and blackboards; empty pencil sharpeners.
Clean grounds and courts of buildings and other outdoor areas.
Clean drinking fountains, lunch tables and adjacent areas.
Make minor, non-technical repairs including replacing light bulbs and florescent light tubes, replacing audio-visual equipment lights.
Lock doors and windows, maintain tight security of school's property at all times.
Observe assigned areas to prevent vandalism.
Report needed repairs to immediate supervisor.
Assist in moving, arranging and setting up furniture and equipment for special events and meetins.
Other duties as assigned.

Applicants must pass a fingerprint clearance with Department of Justice.
