Job Description:

The Catering Service Attendant prepares and serves food at scheduled functions under the supervision of the Catering Manager. This position is primarily responsible for set up, service, break down and clean up of multiple functions or areas on campus.

General Standards

Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers.

Perform quality work within deadlines, with or without direct supervision.

Work effectively as a team leader on all assignments.

Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.

Sanitation

Maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area.

Set up and Preparation

Ensure that all necessary food items have identifiers or menus, displayed in a clean and consistent manner.

Set up buffet tables as well as food, beverage, and service items according to pre-established Great Expectations Catering standards.

Handle food items appropriately during preparation.

Housekeeping Service

Clean tables and chairs before, during, and after meal service, as assigned.

Clean workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments.

Keep display equipment, buffets, and tables clean and free of debris during meal service, as assigned.

Break down events by cleaning and packing unused food dishes, utensils. and equipment for safe removal to appropriate locations.

Handle trash and waste properly per unit standards.

Customer Service

Greet customers courteously, and interact with customers in a manner to ensure customer satisfaction.

Interact with customers and resolve customer complaints in a friendly and service oriented manner. Relay relevant comments from customers directly to supervisors.

Represent the University in a courteous, efficient, and friendly manner in all customer and employee interactions.

Serve customer food and beverage orders quickly, in proper portions, and in a courteous demeanor.

Food Preparation

Handles foods items appropriately during preparation.

Compliance

Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of proper serving temperatures according to HACCP standards.

Utilize all Personal Protective Equipment per dining guidelines, including but not limited to wearing a cut resistance glove whenever using a sharp or potentially sharp tool or instrument.

Menu and Catering

Assemble and deliver all food and supplies for catered functions to the scheduled locations.

Demonstrate a complete understanding of menu items and explain same to customers accurately.

Consistently exhibit the ability to keep up with catering delivery schedules and does so calmly, accurately, and efficiently.

Additional Functions

This position does not directly supervise anyone but is responsible for working with a team and to complete tasks in a group setting.

PT Dining

$250 signing bonus after a 4-month satisfactory probationary period is completed

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ability to interact with diverse and high volume customer base in a friendly and efficient manner. Ability to use the time clock system properly, and record worked hours for processing. Ability to work at times with minimal supervision, and accomplish tasks without directs instruction, and at times problem solve for the best solution. Ability to answer basic questions regarding unit operations and direct other questions to appropriate parties. Possess the ability to meet Dining unit specific uniform standards for this position. Utilize all Personal Protective Equipment's per dining guidelines. Wear a cut resistance glove whenever using a sharp or potentially sharp tool or instrument. Ability to follow all Dining's health and safety standards and requirements. Must have a valid driver's license and a driver's record in good standing

At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be accepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
