Summary:
Reporting to the Dean of the College of Science & Mathematics (CSM), the Public Relations & Event Coordinator serves as the college's public relations and communications contact and coordinator of college-wide events and commencement.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain printed and electronic marketing campaigns, such as brochures social media content, and email campaigns
Serve as the college coordinator for commencement ceremonies, including activities such as script preparation, recruitment of student commencement speakers, volunteer recruitment, seating charts, communications with faculty and students, and on-site management of the ceremonies
Plan, coordinate, and promote events, including the Dean's Distinguished Speaker Series, College Assembled, the Dean's Outstanding Senior Awards ceremony, Student Research Day, and college-level seminar series
Provide news and event content for college website
Manage college social media accounts
Serve as college liaison to University Events
Serve as college liaison to the Office of Media and Public Relations to collaborate on news stories, including Rowan Today articles
Serve as college liaison to University Publications
Work with University Admissions to participate in student welcome events, Accepted Students Day, and open houses as needed
Support event planning for the Summer Undergraduate Research Program
Design and manage content for building display monitors
Coordinate CSM participation in Rowan Homecoming
Design and purchase branded promotional items and giveaways
Participate in special projects and other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required
In-person and virtual event planning experience
Strong communication and writing skills
Web and graphic design knowledge
General knowledge of science/STEM disciplines
Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with various constituencies (deans, department heads/chairs, faculty, students, university departments, alums, etc.)
Available to work occasional nights and weekends
Experience with marketing and promotion
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience:
One (1) year of professional, position-related experience, preferably in higher education
Planning and managing large in-person events such as symposiums, conferences, and speaker events
Using 25Live, managing catering, hiring vendors and coordinating with facilities
Experience managing virtual and hybrid events using Zoom and WebEx
Collaborating with faculty on promoting research experiences
Developing email campaigns using Constant Contact software
Website design using Cascade
Managing multiple social media accounts using Hootsuite software
Graphic design using Adobe Creative Suite
Working with a variety of students
Managing display monitors using Rise Vision software
Salary & Benefits:
In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is AFT: Range 21 ($63,833.23 Min to $73,415.99 Step 4), with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.
For internal applicants, salary is determined per the Pay Adjustment formula (NJAC 4A:3-4.9 & 4.10).
For eligible employees, benefits include: comprehensive NJ State health, dental and retirement benefits, extensive accrued time off/paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement for employee, spouse, and dependents to attend Rowan University, Glassboro. (Tuition reimbursement will apply to undergraduate degrees only for spouse and dependents).
