Maintenance Mechanic - 2nd Shift

Akkodis is proud to partner with an automotive supplier company who is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support the ongoing operation, repair, and maintenance of production machinery and mechanical systems, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyors, and stamping presses. This is a contractual opportunity (long term) fully onsite in Grand Rapids, MI, requiring the flexibility to work overtime on Fridays and Weekends (as needed) Shift time: 4:00pm to 2:30am (Monday through Thursday) Rate Range : $25/hour - $28/hour (plus 7% shift differential); The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Observe and listen to machinery to detect and diagnose causes of malfunction. Dismantle machinery to remove and repair defective components. Inspect parts for wear and defects; examine texture, shape, and dimensions. Adjust, repair, or replace worn or damaged parts. Reassemble machines and verify proper operation. Install special functional or structural components. Lubricate and clean parts and machinery as needed. Operate metalworking tools (lathe, drill press, grinder) to fabricate or repair components. Start machines to test performance after maintenance. Generate purchase orders for replacement parts and equipment. Perform basic electrical equipment repairs. Adhere to TS16949 quality requirements as defined by company policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities for Levels 2 and 3 include training and mentoring Level 1 mechanics. Qualifications: Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year technical school OR six months to one year of related mechanical experience/training OR equivalent combination of education and experience Must understand basic welding, brazing, and soldering techniques Experience with metal stamping presses is required Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and manuals Able to write routine reports and correspond effectively Proficiency in basic algebra, geometry, and reading gauges Ability to calculate proportions, area, volume, etc. Able to interpret instructions (written, verbal, diagram) Capable of solving practical problems in standardized settings Familiarity with Plex Preventative Maintenance or similar CMMS software Licenses/Certifications: Levels 1 & 2: Forklift and Crane Operator Licenses Level 3: Same as above, plus Journeyman Card in Electrical, Machine Repair, or Machine Building OR 8+ years of related experience Physical Demands: Frequent use of hands and arms; ability to reach, stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, or crawl Occasionally required to talk, hear, taste, or smell Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds Visual acuity including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception Work Environment: This role involves regular exposure to mechanical parts and occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
