    Job Title: Custodian GENERAL DESCRIPTION
    Provide a clean and safe environment for students and staff by performing the following duties.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
    2. One to two years related experience desired
    . PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS
    1. Report to work regularly and on time, prepared to perform appropriately assigned duties throughout the day, in service to students, staff, and the community.
    2. Prepare for and perform all assigned duties required by ones job description in a positive and collaborative manner.

    4. Identify, report, and/or if possible control unsafe conditions or safety hazards in order to maintain safe and secure working and learning environments.
    5. Demonstrate professional respect and integrity when interacting with students, parents, staff, community members and other stakeholders. This includes and is not limited to verbal, nonverbal, personal and electronic interactions.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    5. Dispose of debris and maintain equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly manner
    6. Report to Head Custodian or Lead Custodian, Buildings and Grounds Supervisor any damaged, broken, loose fixtures and/or equipment
    7. Secure building; check building to assure maximum security
    8. Attend meetings and in-services as required
    9. Maintain a daily work routine as established by the Head Custodian and Buildings and Grounds Supervisor to adequately service the buildings, grounds, and perso n
    10. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administration.
    11. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    12. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, agencies, intervention specialists or members of the school community.
    13. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
    14. Ability to work in a team environment.
    15. Sweep, vacuum, mop and wax floors
    16. Empty and clean waste receptacles, trash pails, and pencil sharpeners
    17. Remove cobwebs and clean windows
    18. Polish furniture and woodwork
    19. Clean and maintain custodial equipment and materials
    20. Clean and sanitize assigned school, e.g., restrooms, classrooms, spills, etc.
    21. Help with setup and cleanup for various school activities
    22. Use, measure and relabel chemicals per OSHA standards
    23. Clean carpets
    24. Wash all furniture, walls, halls, windows, window seals, and doors
    25. Disinfect water fountains
    26. Spot mop and mop classrooms
    27. Remove writing on walls
    28. Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
    29. Dispose of debris and maintain equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly manner
    30. Adjust to various locations and work requirements as needed, perform other duties as assigned by the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor
    31. Perform minor repairs, including, but not limited to, repair desk, painting.
    32. Request needed equipment, materials and supplies
    33. Perform seasonal duties such as salting and snow removal, litter removal, as directed by the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor and Head or Lead Custodian.
    34. Refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers and bathroom tissue in school building restrooms
    35. Secure building, check building to assure maximum security
    36. Attend meetings and in-services as required
    37. Maintain a daily work routine as established by the Head or Lead Custodian and Buildings and Grounds Supervisor to adequately service the buildings, grounds, and perso n
    38. Remain alert for dangerous, hazardous conditions, or items in need of maintenance
    39. Set up equipment and furniture for special events and use of building for school and community functions
    40. Clean hallway glass display cases
    41. Clean school building lounges
    42. Replace light bulbs as needed
    43. Scrub, strip, seal, and wax floors
    44. Assist in the control of all maintenance and custodial tools and supplies
    45. Assist work crews on assigned tasks
    46. Perform other duties as assigned by the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor and Head or Lead custodian.
