The Lead Custodian serves as the Custodial Services Supervisor's representative for the third shift custodians and custodial operations. This role also provides leadership, direction, and oversight of all projects performed and ensures all projects are completed in a professional manner. The Lead Custodian also maintains their assigned areas of responsibility as well as the oversight responsibilities.
Shift: Monday - Thursday; 10:00pm to 6:30am and Friday; 5:00pm to 1:30am

Leads shift meeting with team members at the beginning of shift and other times as appropriate and required by Custodial Services Supervisor. Ensures all projects are completed in a professional manner.
Opens and secures facilities according to established schedules; monitors premises to prevent fire, theft, and unauthorized access.
Trains and guides assigned staff, providing direction to ensure effective completion of duties.
Consistently adheres to all safety regulations, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and College safety policies and procedures.
Maintains knowledge of fire extinguisher and alarm box locations and performs required monthly equipment inspections.
Cleans and maintains assigned areas by straightening, dusting, and sanitizing furniture, fixtures, window sills, doors, and furnishings; performs sweeping, mopping, dust mopping, scrubbing of floors, walls, windows, and other surfaces; and cleans and services restrooms daily or as required.
Performs project-based cleaning tasks, including scrubbing, waxing floors, cleaning heating vents, carpets, glass surfaces, and other designated areas.
Collects trash, co-mingled recycling, and paper recycling, and transports materials to the appropriate exterior dumpsters.
Removes snow and ice from entrances, walkways, handicap ramps, and stairs; applies de-icing chemicals as needed and directed. Snow removal duties may require mandatory overtime.
Surveys grounds to maintain cleanliness; inspects mechanical equipment and lighting, replacing bulbs as needed; moves furniture as directed by the supervisor.
All other duties assigned by supervisor.
Experience
Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education
A high school education or GED.
Interpersonal Skills
Normal courtesy in dealing with others is required. Work involves minimal contacts, usually within the department. Contact usually involving routine, non-sensitive issues. External contacts are limited to incidental contacts with visitors, or no contact.
Other Skills
Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Flexibility to work occasional overtime and/or weekend hours as needed.
