Job Summary

As the Restaurant Server/Bartender you will greet and serve food and beverage to guests in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner in accordance with hotel standards. Be knowledgeable and familiar with all menu items and drink preparations, remain attentive to the guests throughout dining to ensure guests have an exceptional dining experience. Process guest check and collect payment in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Present menus, take food and beverage orders and enter in the point-of-sale system.
  • Serve all food and beverage orders to guests in a timely manner.
  • Make and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and follow correct pour procedures to include using a jigger.
  • Be knowledgeable of menu items, liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages to answer questions and give recommendations regarding food and beverage offerings.
  • Maintain bar inventory according to set pars and internal controls, and request product to maintain stock in bar.
  • Responsible for cutting and storing all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily to ensure product quality.
  • Check identification of guests that appear underage, and do not serve guests that appear to be intoxicated.
  • Communicate and work closely with kitchen staff to ensure food is prepared accordingly.
  • Check in with guests throughout the meal service to ensure satisfaction.
  • Observe guests to respond to any additional requests and to determine when the meal has been completed.
  • Process guest check and collect payment in compliance with cash handling, credit card transactions, room charge processing, and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Handle guests concerns or complaints in a professional manner and inform the manager to ensure overall guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and appearance of the bar, service area, bar equipment and utensils, ensuring equipment is in good working condition, clean and reset tables according to established hotel standards.
  • Perform daily side work, complete opening and closing duties, including restocking items, organizing workstations and service areas.
  • Locks up and store all beverages, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank.
  • Support and assist team members in all aspects of service to ensure a great dining experience for the guests.
  • Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction.
  • Abide by all state, federal and company liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
  • Comply with OSHA standards and health department regulations.
  • Practice safe work habits always to avoid injury to self or other employees and report any unsafe conditions to management.
  • Perform other duties/tasks as assigned by management.

Skills

  • Excellent inter-personal communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic math or accounting skills and standard cash handling procedures.
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
  • Must have a professional, warm demeanor and be service oriented.
  • Knowledgeable of menu items, beer, wine, and spirits including mixture and serving beverages, standard beverage recipes, preparation methods, glassware, garnishes.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time and walk for entire shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry trays, as well as bend, kneel and stoop repeatedly.
  • Ability to grasp, lift, carry, move, push, or pull goods weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year bartending and serving experience.
