JOB SUMMARY

The Janitor is responsible for performing a variety of custodial and cleaning tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment in support of the mission readiness of AFSFC Detachment 3 at Fort Bliss, Texas. This position requires adherence to established cleaning schedules, attention to detail, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Janitorial employees will clean administrative buildings, dormitories, restrooms, classrooms, and common areas in accordance with contract specifications and government requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Clean and maintain non-carpeted and carpeted floors using sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping, and waxing methods.
  • Dust furniture, fixtures, baseboards, and horizontal/vertical surfaces, both high (610 ft.) and low ( SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

    • Basic understanding of commercial cleaning methods, equipment, and cleaning agents.
    • Familiarity with Safety Data Sheets (SDS), safe chemical handling procedures, and OSHA safety practices.
    • Knowledge of facility sanitation standards and Air Force cleanliness expectations.
    • Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as HEPA-filtered vacuums, mops, buffers, and floor scrubbers.
    • Basic communication skills to follow written and verbal instructions.
    • Time management and organization skills to meet scheduled cleaning requirements efficiently.
    • Ability to work independently or as part of a custodial team in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
    • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, and reach.
    • Ability to maintain professionalism and discretion within military environments.
    • Ability to respond to changing work priorities and emergencies with minimal supervision.
    • Understanding of federal contract performance standards, including those related to quality control, staffing, safety, and reporting.
    • Familiarity with facility-specific requirements and secure military environments, particularly those supporting Air Force Security Forces operations.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with Government representatives, supervisors, and team members.
    • Problem-solving and decision-making skills to address performance issues, safety incidents, or customer concerns promptly and professionally.
    • Ability to interpret and implement contract requirements, custodial SOPs, and safety procedures within a structured, high-security environment.
    • Ability to multi-task.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent Required.
    • Previous custodial or janitorial work experience preferred.
    • Must be proficient in English to communicate with COR, staff and Government personnel.
    • Must be able to pass a Tier 1 (NACI) background check and obtain base access.
    • Valid state drivers license.
    • Must not have allergies to canines, as interaction with Military Working Dogs (MWDs) may occur.
    • Must be physically able to perform cleaning duties and wear required PPE, including gloves, non-slip shoes, and eye/respiratory protection as needed.
    • Must comply with Fort Bliss security, safety, and conduct regulations, including policies related to smoking, weapons, and controlled access areas.
    • Must be able to perform shift work.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT

    Yulista fosters a fast-paced multi-tasking customer service-oriented environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. Adaptability regarding schedule and task changes is necessary to accommodate changing priorities. Overtime may be required.
