Job Summary

The Environmental Services Aide Lead provides cleaning and environmental infection control services clinic wide. The Environmental Services Aide Lead assists in training the Environmental Services Aides, covers for PTO, maintains stocks and performs inspections. This work is done under the direct supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment for all staff and visitors at CHC facilities.

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Familiarity in working in medical facilities/clinics.

A. Job Specific Functions/Performance: General

  1. Follows established daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly cleaning schedule as outlined by supervisor.

  2. Demonstrates proper cleaning technique according to product recommendations in support of environmental infection control.

  3. Demonstrates proper use of equipment and supplies.

  4. Demonstrates the ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

  5. Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.

  6. Maintains building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors and setting alarm after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.

  7. Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to maintain safety and in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.

  8. Notify managers concerning the need for any repairs to the facility that are observed while working in the facility.

  9. Assists with emergency cleanup or other requests of housekeeping service from staff members.

  10. Adheres to attendance standards in order to perform the job functions for daily operations and/or continuity of patient care.

A. Job Specific Functions/Performance: Lead

  1. As a key communicator between Environmental Services Aide Team and Environmental Services Supervisor, informs supervisor of any escalate issues.

  2. Performs quality improvement initiatives under direction of Environmental Services Supervisor.

  3. Conducts rounding activities to ensure environmental hygiene in all areas assigned. Documents results and repairs necessary reports to Environmental Services Supervisor for distribution to manager(s) and others.

  4. Ensures supplies are ordered timely and manages inventory of items stored at the clinics.

  5. Assist with training employees in tasks, safety, policies, and procedures.

  6. Responds to emergency calls in multiple priorities as needed to coordinate staffing changes and minimize disruptions accordingly within shift assigned.

  7. As needed, provides Environmental Services Aide coverage for PTO, extended time-off and call-outs.

  8. Participates and contributes to efforts to improve patient experience and cleanliness scores and key departmental performance metrics.

  9. Reports customer service issues to Environmental Services Supervisor.
