Sous Chef Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a line cook in a fine or casual-fine dining restaurant
  • Strong knife skills and in-depth food safety & sanitation knowledge
  • Ability to remain composed in a high-pressure environment
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds

Sous Chef - Must Haves:

  • Lead the flow of service during peak hours to ensure seamless execution
  • Mentor, train, and support line cooks, prep cooks, and other kitchen staff
  • Execute daily prep and service for all menu items from start to finish, including butchery and family meal
  • Participate in ideation, testing, and rollout of new menu items
  • Uphold cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations, equipment, refrigeration, and prep areas
  • Receive and properly store deliveries with attention to FIFO and quality control
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative kitchen culture

Sous Chef Preferred Background & Skills:

  • Previous experience in a leadership role (Sous Chef, CDC, or similar)
  • Experience with cost control, inventory, and ordering
  • Knowledge of modern cooking techniques and seasonal, ingredient-driven cuisine
  • Proven ability to coach and develop culinary talent
  • Strong sense of urgency, precision, and pride in plating
  • Eagerness to learn and grow with a like-minded, passionate team
  • Solution-oriented with a mindset for continuous improvement
