Position Title: Child Nutrition Cook
Reports To: Child Nutrition Manager and Building Principal
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Length of Contract: 180 Days (Salary and work year to be established by the
Board of Education.)
SUMMARY:
The Child Nutrition Cook, under the supervision of the Child Nutrition Manager in conjunction with the Building Principal, is responsible for administering the federal child nutrition program for the South Conway County School District in accordance with all federal and state regulations in his/her assigned building(s). The Child Nutrition Cook’s primary responsibility is to provide nutritious meals for scholars and responsibly use the resources assigned to the program at his/her building(s).
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
The Child Nutrition Cook will be evaluated by the Child Nutrition Manger in conjunction with the Building Principal, in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education policy on evaluation of Professional Personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Demonstrates relentless commitment to safety, learning, and academic achievement of all scholars by actively participating in the Professional Learning Community Process and carrying out assigned responsibilities to contribute the mission of the South Conway County School District.
- Demonstrates effective customer service to all district patrons and an attitude of helpfulness toward fellow employees, students, and staff.
- Maintains clean, neat, and acceptable personal appearance, following appropriate dress code. No fingernail polish, fake nails, and jewelry. Must have hairnet, pants that are not considered warm-ups, and non-canvas shoes. Shirts must be of the same color assigned by the Child Nutrition Manager or Child Nutrition Director.
- Be on time; punctuality is a must. Time schedule established by the Child Nutrition Manager or Child Nutrition Director.
- Follows all health, safety, work habits, and sanitation guidelines as stated in the Child Nutrition Regulations.
- Follows and maintains district policies, along with all state and federal regulations.
- All private information concerning scholars, teachers, and other school personnel is not to be discussed in or outside of school.
- All duties assigned by the Manager thru a daily work schedule, must be completed.
- Prepares nutritious food by standardized recipes for specified quantities and serves food to program participants according to state and federal regulations.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment.
- Actively participates in staff development training opportunities provided by the Child Nutrition Director and/or Child Nutrition Manager.
- Understands and follows directions as given in order to perform job in a safe and responsible manner.
- Cooperates in all activities necessary for the best functioning of the SCCSD Food Service Program.
- Other duties as assigned by the Child Nutrition Manager and Child Nutrition Director. All daily duties must be completed by the end of the workday.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE:
Pass all appropriate background checks. High school diploma or equivalent preferred; food service experience preferred. Effective beginning the 2006-2007 school year, it is required that a minimum of twelve (12) hours of in-service training be part of a full-time child nutrition worker contract each school year. Failure of Child Nutrition Worker to complete the 12-hour in-service training may result in termination by the local school district.

The ability to travel to other buildings or local training sites may be required for professional development opportunities. The position requires the individual to sometimes work irregular or extended work hours in order to meet demands of the position.
