Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 15,500 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has 1 early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 th 12 th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

What We Need:
The Temporary Utility Worker will be directly responsible to the Director of Operations, the Assistant Director of Operations and/or his designee.

General Duties:

1. Must be able to perform routine maintenance and repair work;
2. Must be able to take direction from skilled maintenance staff;
3. To perform tasks such as snowplowing, delivery work, and other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or his designee;
4. Must be able to operate and maintain lawn and grounds equipment.

The following specific duties are typical but not necessarily all of the duties involved in this position. Employees currently employed in these positions will, when necessary, be provided training to enable them to do work assigned for which they feel they are not qualified. Current employees and new employees will be expected to be able to perform 80% of the specific duties listed without further training.

Specific Duties:

1. To perform the duties of custodian;
2. To perform minor roof repair work;
3. To drive a truck, plow snow, make deliveries, and related work;
4. To maintain hand and electrical tools;
5. To perform manual labor for pickup and delivery of goods and materials;
6. Must perform general maintenance duties as assigned;
7. To use safe procedures, tools and equipment on the job;
8. To keep records and requisition supplies.

Qualifications:

1. Must have a valid drivers license;
2. Must be in good health and perform all jobs assigned;
3. Must be able to plan and layout jobs as assigned;
4. Must be able to climb ladders and adjust to heights;
5. Must work in a safe manner with tools;
6. Must be able to work harmoniously with others;
7. Must have a working knowledge of all tools and equipment to perform general maintenance;
8. Must be qualified to work in a school environment;
9. Must be able to read blueprints and schematics;
10. Must have good communication skills both oral and written;
11. Must have positive attitude;
12. Must be safety conscience;
13. Must maintain proper hygiene and appearance;
14. Must be willing to participate in continuing education programs.
15. Must obtain an Illinois Commercial Pesticide license within a 6 month period of accepting utility worker position and then maintain it for the duration of holding the position.

Salary: Per Custodial Maintenance Contract

Additional Information: 1st Shift position 7a.m.-3:30p.m.
