Back up: Sanitation Supervisor

Scope/ Position Description:

The Facility Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall upkeep of the Piscataway location. The workday will begin at the Avenel location, and duties will continue at the Piscataway site later in the day. This role also includes cross-training in basic mechanical tasks to assist the Maintenance Department as needed. This will be a dual role, and the candidate will work closely with the Maintenance Department and VP of Operations. This role requires time spent between two facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the building and property in a clean and orderly condition.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, or vacuum floors.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Scrub, sanitize, and supply restroom facilities.
• Dust furniture, walls, and equipment.
• Clean windows, mirrors, and partitions using appropriate cleaning agents.
• Mix cleaning solutions and chemicals in preparation for cleaning, following proper instructions.
• Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Shampoo or steam-clean carpets and rugs.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and notify managers when stock is low.
• Perform minor maintenance activities such as painting, wall repairs, picture hanging, and changing light bulbs.
• Clean and maintain equipment.
• Perform seasonal tasks, including snow removal from walkways.
• Notify managers regarding any required building or equipment repairs.
• Assist the Maintenance Department by learning basic mechanical tasks, including equipment maintenance and minor repairs.

Maintenance apprentice:

Learning phase:

The primary focus is to learn trade by working alongside experienced technicians, gaining hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge through training programs.

Basic tasks:

This may include cleaning and lubricating machinery, replacing worn parts, assisting with installations, performing simple repairs, and documenting maintenance activities.

General building maintenance will be the primary focus on this role.

• Wall repairs, painting, building condition improvement across all facilities.

Also, general help and cleanup related to the build out of the Piscataway plant by coordinating with the VP of Ops and selected contractors.

Safety focus:

Following safety protocols and procedures is crucial throughout the apprenticeship.

Requirements:

• Must be able to speak, read, write, know basic math and basic measuring metrics.
• Understand and follow GMP, Food Safety, Allergen Program and Sanitation Procedures (SSOPs)
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment and around loud moving machinery.
• Able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly during shift.
• Able to perform repetitive tasks such as stand, walk, bend, lift, kneel, crouch, reach, stoop, squat, climb stairs throughout the shift.
• Able to work in cold, wet, and/or humid areas (30-40 Fahrenheit degrees) and resist strong food odor such as onions.
• Operate Forklift, handle allergens and chemicals as needed.
• Knowledge of basic maintenance (painting, spackling, other)
• Communicate & report any issues or errors found immediately to supervisor.

Teamwork Aptitude:

• Willing to accept change and work in a team-based environment.
• Must be flexible with working schedule: weekends, holidays, shift change.
• Must be willing to rotate and help other areas as needed. (hot or cold)
• Have a Positive mentality to train new team members as needed.
