The Host plays a key role in shaping the guest experience by creating a welcoming and polished first impression. This position requires attention to detail, expert knowledge of nightly reservations, and a genuine passion for hospitality. Hosts are responsible for managing guest flow, responding to inquiries, and facilitating seamless communication between FOH and management. Candidates must be willing to work five days a week (40+ hours per week). Open availability is preferred.
Responsibilities- Maintain expert-level knowledge of all reservations, including People of Note (PON), dietary restrictions, and special instructions through daily pre-service meetings
- Greet and warmly welcome guests upon arrival, ensuring a positive and professional atmosphere at the entrance
- Recognize and acknowledge returning guests and VIPs
- Anticipate guest needs and accommodate requests with courtesy and efficiency
- Organize and maintain secure storage and retrieval of guest items in accordance with policy
- Relay important guest details and arrival updates to management in real time
- Create and manage the daily seating plan
- Support private event operations by preparing menus, table layouts, and run-of-show documents
- Monitor and respond to communication sent to the Host email account
- Maintain strong knowledge of food and beverage menus to answer questions accurately
- Respond to guest concerns with professionalism and care
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
Qualifications
- One (1) or more years of experience working as a host or in a related position
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, chef-driven environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work well with a team
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in high-pressure situations
- Experience with Tock or InDesign is a plus
Physical Requirements:
Able to stand for 8+ hours per shift
Able to lift, move, or pull up to 35 lbs
Able to climb stairs multiple times per shift
Able to carry a full tray with either hand
