Position Summary:

The Seasonal Cook at Keeneland Hospitality is responsible for the preparation and production of food for assigned dining areas and events during Keeneland’s race meets and other special functions. This position requires the ability to follow recipes, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and work efficiently in a high volume kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook menu items across different hospitality operations (concessions, banquets, track kitchen, Alacarte) with consistency and quality.
  • Follow standardized recipes, plating guides, and food safety protocols.
  • Assist with setup, service, breakdown, and inventory management.
  • Maintain rigorous cleanliness, sanitation and jurisdictional food safety licensing standards (e.g. Fayette County Food Handlers License or ServeSafe).
  • Work as part of a cohesive team in a fast-paced, high-volume event setting.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to support varying shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency and efficiency.
  • Embrace Keeneland Hospitality culture and strive to exceed guest expectations.
  • Adhere to Keeneland Hospitality Uniforms and Grooming standards.
  • Ensure health code, sanitization and food safety standards are met and maintained.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience: 1–5 years in culinary or food-service roles (restaurants, hotels, catering, stadiums, banquet facilities).
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen equipment, tools, and safe handling procedures.
  • Ability to follow direction with attention to detail.
  • Professional demeanor and team player mindset.
  • Comfortable standing for long periods and working in high-energy environments.
  • Ability to work seasonally in an eventbased position aligned with Keeneland’s Spring (April) or Fall (October) meets and have open availability during the duration of season.

Licensing Requirements:

  • A valid Fayette County Food Handler’s License is required for all food and beverage staff. Must be obtained prior to the first scheduled shift. ServSafe certification also accepted.
  • A Kentucky Horse Racing Commission license is required for all track workers. This license will be provided to you on behalf of Keeneland upon hire.
