Position Summary

The Project Worker - Housekeeping provides housekeeping services, responds to safety and security needs, and supports resident well-being. Responsibilities include routine and deep cleaning, project work, floor and carpet care, and assistance with personal laundry and bed-making. The role also involves supporting resident care by responding to requests, emergencies, and communicating effectively with staff, residents, and guests.

This position is considered essential and requires attendance during hazardous weather and on weekends and holidays.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Housekeeping

  • Clean assigned areas, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment according to standards
  • Wash, dust, polish, vacuum, and sweep public areas including lobbies, restrooms, offices, corridors, and entrances
  • Restock restroom supplies and check dispensers regularly
  • Remove debris/trash from building entrances, driveways, and common areas
  • Clean and maintain guest rooms and special project areas as assigned
  • Maintain organized and clean storage areas for supplies and equipment
  • Report any structural or equipment defects to the supervisor

Safety & Emergency Response

  • Respond promptly to emergencies, spills, accidents, and special cleaning needs
  • Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times
  • Assist with smoke or fire alarms, coordinating emergency response efforts as directed
  • Direct emergency vehicles and provide resident information to medical responders
  • Communicate using a two-way radio with nursing, maintenance, and administrative staff

Event & Project Support

  • Assist in setting up and removing furniture and decorations for events
  • Perform deep cleaning projects and seasonal maintenance tasks

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1-2 years housekeeping experience preferred
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment operation and infection control procedures
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Previous security, concierge, or first aid/medical training preferred
  • Team-oriented, dependable, and customer-focused

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged walking, standing, bending, and reaching
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and push/pull housekeeping carts and equipment
  • Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals (PPE provided)
  • Work primarily in climate-controlled areas with occasional exposure to noise and odors
  • Ability to climb ladders up to 8 feet

Schedule

Works weekends and holidays. All staff are considered essential personnel and must report as scheduled during hazardous weather.
