TITLE: Host/Busser

Description of the Position:
The Host/Busser position is responsible greeting and seating customers in a high-volume environment, answering phones, directing customers to assigned or preferred seating, answering guest's questions regarding the property and expediting and delivering food from the kitchen to patrons in a timely manner. This position is also responsible for the efficient and timely clearing and re-setting tables, as well as clearing unnecessary dishes from the tables. Other duties include but are not limited to; providing the bar with ice and clean glassware, setting up and cleaning of the restaurant or outdoor areas, and generally maintaining the cleanliness of the restaurant. This position may also be required to help with cleaning duties including sorting of garbage and recycling. Most importantly this position helps in maintaining customer relations and ensuring a pleasant experience for all patrons. Being a Host/Busser can be hard physical work and this job also requires the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast paced and deadline oriented environment. A Host/Busser must also have the ability to work well independently and as a member of a team. Each employee will be expected to perform their job in a safe manner and report any safety concerns to Management. All McMenamin employees will also be expected to keep current on all company events, history, and products. Other duties as assigned by the Manager on duty.
Requirements of the Job:
- Obtain and maintain current food handlers card
- Previous related experience preferred but not required
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Efficiently and effectively provide excellent customer service to customers, clear and re-set table and provide back up to servers as needed.
- Safely lift and carry heavy objects remain calm and focused in a high volume, deadline oriented work environment with a hand truck or the help of another person if necessary
- Must have a value for diversity and the ability to work with individuals from different backgrounds

- Work for long periods on feet including frequent walking, stair climbing and working outdoors in varied weather conditions as necessary
- Perform repetitive movement such as pushing, pulling, bending, some twisting and stooping
- Perform fine hand manipulation including handling small and large objects, and use of kitchen equipment, etc.
- Ability to communicate clearly and be positive, polite, and cooperative with co-workers, managers, and customers
- Work around various heat sources, including grills, broilers, and hot-oil fryers
- Work with and around sharp objects, including knives & slicers
- Work with chemicals used in cleaning and sanitizing
- Wash dishes and use dishwashing equipment as needed
