Redwood Empire Whiskey recently acquired Savage and Cooke Distillery located in Vallejo on Mare Island. The distillery features an event and dining space in an ultra-hip atmosphere under the name of Redwood Empire Whiskey Bar and Tasting Room. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Cook to join our team.
This full-time position is capable of assisting with setting up and closing down the kitchen, prepping food for service, and working the line during operating hours. The Cook will also act as utility person at times in order to keep up with washing dishes and keeping the line stocked with necessary supplies and back-up food items. The event and restaurant team work Wednesday through Sunday. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Proficient in all skills that relate to kitchen and cooking operations.
- Participates in food production and collaborates with chef.
- Helps maintain food quality and standards of the chef.
- Helps to communicate food and supply needs.
- Monitors and maintains kitchen equipment.
- Adheres to safety procedures for the assigned work area.
- Participates in kitchen setup, shutdown, operating, troubleshooting issues, and making adjustments when necessary.
- Maintains a clean and organized kitchen and pantry.
- Participates in team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assists with, and ensures, general housekeeping and cleaning of workstations, including washing dishes and pots/pans.
- Ability to work weekends and overtime when the business demands.
- Helps to identify problems before they occur and helps remedy them.
- Has knowledge of Employee Handbook policies, especially regarding California meal and break policies.
- Collaborates and communicates with Kitchen Manager on all BOH needs.

Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift 35 lbs.
- Walk, kneel, bend and stand, primarily on concrete flooring.
- Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work in a noisy, fast-paced environment.
- Full-time, Wednesday Sunday.
- The restaurant is operated in our food truck, which is located on-site at the distillery. Once a week, prep-work is performed off-site at a commercial kitchen near the Napa airport.

Compensation: Hourly ($22.00 - $25.00)
