Chance's Pie & Coffee Shop Crew Member

This staff position will work under the Chance’s Manager to brew coffee, bake muffins & pies, greet, clean, and perform any other duties needed to create an effective environment with quality product.
Reports to: Chance’s Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Campus: Mockingbird
Working Hours: This is an hourly position. Each paid crewmember must work at least 3 shifts per week, totaling 7-10 hours per week.
Work a 3-hour shift on Sundays
Work at least one 3 hour shift during the week
Work at least one evening or weekend 1-3 hour shift a week
Anticipated Schedule: Crew members will be scheduled per event (i.e., Staff Meetings, Sunday coffee at Mockingbird & Tolleson, SMU football games, small groups, Dessert Theater, etc.)
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Onboarding :
- Crew Members must participate in an Initial Assessment of Hospitality, Food Handling and Customer Service skills
- Crew Members must either complete Chance’s Operations Training or demonstrate mastery of skills during their Assessment.
- If necessary, Crew Members may need to participate in our Chances Operations Training to improve certain skills in certain areas. There is no cost for Operations Training; but there is no compensation during Operations Training. Some of this is on-the-job training that will occur while Chance’s is open.
- Crew Members must also participate in Vocational Preparation Training, to increase their skills in Customer Service, Catering, and Hospitality
Job Expectations :
- General
- Follow all Safety and Health Protocols for a Restaurant Business
- Sign in to Chance’s at least 5 minutes before the shift starts to be ready to work immediately when the shift begins
- Work at the job until all cleanup tasks are completed.
- Hospitality
- Practice hospitality greeting often so that it is natural and welcoming
- Clean and Set tables for Retail Business
- Clean and Set Display counters for Retail Business
- Clean and prepare Chance’s Cart for Retail Business
- Learn and assist with all cleaning responsibilities, including washing dishes and cleaning surfaces.
- Know where all of the Display signs go both on the Cart and inside each Facility
- Learn and be prepared to teach volunteers and new crew members how to do the above tasks
- Food Preparation
- Learn and be prepared to grind and make coffee and tea
- Learn and be prepared to make muffin batter and bake muffins
- Learn and be prepared to bake pies
- Learn and be prepared to teach volunteers and new crew members how to do the above tasks
- Customer Service
- Learn and be prepared to greet customers at the Point of Sale
- Learn and be prepared to check out customers with the Point of Sale
- Learn and be prepared to take online pie orders and communicate to the Food Preparation Team
- Retail Pushcart and Catering Operations
- Learn to prepare and set the Cart for weekday and Sunday indoor business
- Learn to prepare and set the Cart for weekday and Saturday outdoor business (i.e. SMU football games)
- Learn to prepare and set the Cart for Catering opportunities
- Learn to break down the cart, clean it and store it appropriately
- Adapted HR processes for employment
- Universal Volunteer Training
- Food Handler’s License
- People Skills, Organization, Task Analysis and Team Player is required
- Can operate the POS (square system)
