Job SummaryUnder immediate direction and in compliance with straightforward and standardized policies and procedures, responsible for the overall appearance of assigned facilities by maintaining cleanliness and organization of interior spaces and performing basic grounds maintenance responsibilities for outside areas. Tracks and maintains needed supplies and inventory. Assists with event setup, cleanup, etc. as needed. Proactively identifies, removes, and reports potential safety hazards.
Essential Functions % of Time
- Clean Facility Interiors: Clean inside buildings including dusting, sweeping, mopping, waxing/stripping linoleum floors, shampooing rugs, etc. Duties include operating professional cleaning equipment. Remove and empty all trash and recycling. Clean, service, and disinfect restrooms, replacing all paper products and supplies. Clean up spills, as well as provide stain and spot removal.

- Maintain Exterior Facility Areas: Maintain exterior of assigned buildings and grounds in an orderly and neat fashion. Pick up litter, sweep/blow off sidewalks, clean exterior windows, etc. Provide light grounds work and water plants as needed. Remove graffiti as necessary.

- Provide Event & General Facility Support: Set up and break down necessary supplies and equipment for events and programs as needed. Assist in moving/relocating furniture and/or equipment. Assist with painting projects as needed. Maintain tools and equipment in proper working order. Track and communicate inventory needs for maintenance and cleaning supplies. Post signage when needed to communicate closures, cautions, etc.

- High school diploma or equivalent training and/or job related experience.
- This is an entry level position for which training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior custodial and/or grounds maintenance experience.
Driver's License Requirements
- Valid South Carolina Class D Driver's License preferred.
Performance RequirementsKnowledge of:
- Cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
- General facility maintenance.
Ability to:
- Proactively identify, remove, and report potential safety hazards.
- Read basic communication using common two or three syllable words.
- Write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses.
- Perform the basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and effectively use ratios and measurements.
- Operate light equipment, hand tools, and professional cleaning equipment including vacuum cleaner, broom, dust mop, bucket cleaning products, cloths/towels, buffing machine, scrub machine, etc.
- Operate general office equipment to include telephone and computer for the purpose of submitting electronic timesheets.
