Job Title: Seasonal Skate Host Leader Part-Time / Non-Exempt

Reports To: Operations Manager
Position Summary
Maggie Daley Park is seeking a confident, guest-focused, and safety-minded Seasonal Skate Host Leader to support the operations of the parks iconic Ice Skating Ribbon during the winter season. In this leadership role, youll guide and support the team of Skate Hosts while ensuring a high-quality experience for all skaters. This position blends strong customer service skills with on-ice leadership and operational oversight. The ideal candidate is an experienced skater, a natural leader, and someone who can keep calm in high-energy, guest-facing situations.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise guest behavior on and off the ice to ensure safety and adherence to rink rules.
Respond quickly to falls, injuries, or incidents and provide appropriate assistance.
Lead by example in delivering friendly, professional guest service.
Act as a primary point of contact for questions, safety concerns, and general rink inquiries.
Support ice maintenance, surface clearing, and overall cleanliness of the rink area.
Monitor skate inventory and assist with fitting and returns as needed.
Guide, support, and motivate seasonal Skate Hosts during shifts.
Provide on-the-job coaching and serve as a mentor for new team members.
Assist with onboarding, staff readiness, and coordination of shift schedules.
Oversee guest safety during events, programming, and busy operational periods.
Lead or assist in setup and takedown for group bookings, special skate nights, and park events.
Complete other job responsibility and duties as assigned.
Schedule Requirements
This is a seasonal, part-time position. Candidates must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, with flexibility during peak periods and special events.
Qualifications
Strong ice-skating ability required
Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience in customer service, recreation, or events is a plus
Ability to stay calm, professional, and proactive in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to guest safety and creating a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere
Ability to work in the cold and warm weather conditions
Physical Requirements
Frequent walking and standing; occasional sitting for extended periods
Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds regularly
May be required to assist guests physically in case of falls or emergencies
